Vareys Lytham: Make A Day of It!
Vareys Town & Country recently made a huge leap in our ongoing growth as a thriving business, opening up a brand new store in Lytham. We would absolutely love you to come and check out the new store, where you can find our signature collections of outdoor clothing, footwear and accessories from some of the world's leading brands.
Though the Vareys store may be the newest jewel in Lytham's crown, it certainly isn't the only one! In fact, there is plenty to do in the beautiful seaside town, especially for those outdoorsy types among you. Instead of just popping along to visit Vareys Lytham, why not make it a whole day out? This edition of our blog showcases just a small selection of what the town has to offer...
Fairhaven Lake
Sitting right on the coast next to the charmingly named Granny's Bay, Fairhaven Lake is an extensive body of salt water that is a sheer delight for the senses. Strolling around the lake is an absorbing way to spend some time relaxing and no visit would be complete without dropping in at the RSPB discovery centre. Fairhaven Lake is considered to be one of Europe's most important wildfowl locations and is home to a wide variety of bird life including a huge flock of Canada Geese. Keep your eye out for the lake's most famous resident: a black swan!
If you want to leave the banks and head out onto the lake itself then there are plenty of options. Those who have plenty of energy can hire a rowing boat or canoe. If you would rather simply sit back and enjoy the scenery then buy a ticket for the electric motor launch or you could even hire your own motorboat. Finish your excursion with a refreshing drink and bite to eat at the lakeside cafe.
Lowther Gardens
Lytham boasts many parks and green areas, with Lowther Gardens being the oldest. Created in 1872 by Squire J Talbot Clifton, the gardens cover an area of almost six hectares and provide a wonderful place for a long stroll among the beautifully manicured areas. It's also a great venue for families as there is a play area, tennis courts and even crazy golf!
Lytham Green & Windmill
Offering excellent access to Lytham's wonderful promenade, a walk along Lytham Green grants spectacular vistas across the sea as far as Wales and Southport. The green stretches either side of one of the town's most interesting structures, a windmill that was built all the way back in 1805. Restored by the local council in 1989, the windmill is now open to the public and is definitely a must-see on your visit to lovely Lytham.
After you have finished exploring Lytham, come and visit Vareys Town & Country.
