Countdown to the Royal Lancashire Agricultural Show!
The Royal Lancashire Agricultural Show (RLAS) is one of the biggest and most highly anticipated events on the countryside calendar. With the first RLAS taking place over 250 years ago back in 1767, it is the oldest agricultural show in Britain and gets bigger every year. The team here at Vareys Town & Country are excitedly preparing to attend the event, where we will be showcasing a superb selection of products from our extensive portfolio of country clothing, footwear and accessories.
With animals being such an integral part of the British countryside, they of course feature hugely among the many attractions at the RLAS. There will be competitions and displays galore, encompassing a full menagerie that includes sheep, cattle, birds of prey, ferrets, bees, dogs, ponies, pigs, giant tortoises and a herd of utterly gorgeous pygmy goats. Horses are another key animal represented at the RLAS with the showjumping competition being one of the major highlights.
Children have their very own village to explore, which is sure to keep them occupied. There's also a funfair for the little ones, which of course can also be enjoyed by the young at heart! Everyone is sure to need refreshments afterwards and you'll find a carefully chosen selection of vendors selling everything from local produce to more exotic treats. Adults will especially enjoy the beer tent!
When you've experienced all of the many attractions, which also include a military village and a display of vintage tractors, you'll definitely be in the mood for a little shopping. This is the time to head over to the countryside and lifestyle marquees, where hundreds of exhibitors will be showcasing a vast variety of products. This year, the RLAS will take place from Friday 19th July to Sunday 21st July inclusive, with the gates opening at 9:30 am and closing at 5:30 pm. The location is at Salesbury Hall in Ribchester.
